Follow-up sequences: up to 3 emails if no reply
A follow-up sequence sends up to three extra emails, in the same Gmail thread, to everyone who has not replied to your first email. Most replies to outreach come after the second or third touch, and MailBrother handles the timing, the stop conditions and the threading for you.
Add follow-ups when you send
- Write the first email as usual and press Send Mass.
- Tick Follow up if no reply in the send dialog.
- In the next window add up to three steps. For each step set the delay in days and the text. Leave the subject empty to keep the email in the same thread as Re: your subject.
- Click Write with AI on any step and MailBrother drafts a short follow-up from your first email. Edit it as you like.
Tags such as {FirstName|there} work in follow-ups exactly as in the first email.
Add follow-ups to a campaign that already went out
Open MailBrother → Campaigns, click the campaign name and press Add follow-ups. Everyone who was sent to and has not replied gets step 1 after the delay you set, counted from their first email.
When the sequence stops
- The recipient replied (auto-replies such as out-of-office do not count).
- The recipient unsubscribed, the email bounced, or the address is on your suppression list.
- The recipient clicked a link, if "Stop when the recipient clicks a link" is on (it is by default).
- You stopped the campaign.
Limits and timing
Follow-ups count toward your daily sending limit together with first emails. MailBrother checks for due follow-ups every 10 minutes and sends them a couple of seconds apart. On the campaign page the Follow-up column shows which step each recipient got and when the next one is due.
